Examination Matters
The University has adopted a new policy in which a Course may be graded as Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory (S or U) instead of the normal letter-grade. Several important SPMS rules that students need to keep in mind:
- Maximum 12 AUs are allowed for S/U
- Minimum 77 AUs of graded Courses must be fulfilled in order to be awarded a degree
- modules available for S/U Option are all first year Courses (and taken within first year of matriculation) and all GER at any level (except GER-Core). The list of first year core Courses for MATH students would be as follows:
1. MAS110 Introduction to Scientific Programming
2. MAS111 Foundations of Mathematics
3. MAS112 Calculus I
4. MAS113 Calculus II
5. MAS114 Linear Algebra I
6. MAS214 Basic Discrete Mathematics and Number Theory
- Students are to declare their chosen Courses online even if one does not wish to exercise the option at all
- S/U Option that has been exercised for a subject(s) is irrevocable once the deadline for declaration has lapsed
- S/U Option does not apply to Courses which are tied to Minor and Second Major programmes
