Coding and Cryptography

Practical wiretap schemes for different classes of communication channels are under development. We have proposed practical code design criteria for wiretap codes over Gaussian channels, and shown how wiretap coding can be used to enhance the security of communication systems such as the standard for mobile telephony GSM.

Computational Complexity

Defined new lower bound methods for randomized communication complexity and query complexity. Used the new method to show a strong direct product theorem for the disjointness problem in communication complexity as well as optimal communication-space tradeoffs for boolean matrix multiplication.

Numerical Analysis, Probability

I have completed a theoretical framework for numerical methods for  stochastic parabolic PDEs with almost optimal complexity. An analytical frame work for the hyperbolic problems has also been completed. I have also developed an efficient numerical algorithm for multiscale problems with non-periodic structures.

Functional and Complex Analysis

Since 2008 my research (jointly with Korean, Japanese and Russian colleagues) concentrated on the study of the function space/algebra A^(-∞)(Ω) of holomorphic functions in convex domains of C^n (n≥1) with polynomial growth near the boundary. Several problems that lie in functional and complex analysis are considered.

Wang Huaxiong's research was in designs of new cryptographic schemes and cryptanalysis of hash functions, results were accepted in the top conferences in the field, such as Fast Software Encryption (FSE) 2009, Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC), 2009 and CT-RSA 2010 etc

The same paper has been highlighted by Taylor & Francis as one of the most-cited articles in IIE Transactions from 2006-2008.
