NRF Research Fellow cum Nanyang Assistant Professor

Application for the NRF Research Fellowship closed on 6 September 2009. It reopens for 2010 around April 2010. Application for the Nanyang Assistant Professorship closed on 22 September 2009.

  1. Judging Criteria
    • The best young research talents who are ready for their first independent research, usually having completed their first or second post-doctoral fellowship stints, with the potential to become the next generation of research leaders.
    • Outstanding performance demonstrated during the PhD and post-doctoral terms at a reputable university.
    • Quality and scientific excellence of the research project proposal.

  1. How to apply for both the NRF Research Fellowship and the Nanyang Assistant Professorship.

The NRF Research Fellowship Scheme was launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) in 2007. The scheme is a globally competitive program to attract, recruit and root bright, young postdoctoral researchers to conduct independent research in Singapore. It provides an attractive award of up to US$1.5 million for the recipient to fund his/her very own cutting-edge research.

Candidates who are awarded the NRF Research Fellowship will also carry the title of Nanyang Assistant Professor.

Candidates are also invited to apply simultaneously for the Nanyang Assistant Professorship which comes with up to S$1 million (Singapore dollars) in start-up research grant. A candidate who is successful with the NRF Research Fellowship, however, will not be eligible for this grant.
