Apart from achieving 4 As for the ‘A’ level examination, I was also the vice-president of the Choir back in Temasek Junior College. We managed to clinch a Gold award at the Singapore Youth Festival Choral Competition in 2005. The choir also went to Vienna (Prague) and took part in the International Festival of Christmas and Advent Music Competition. I was also a volunteer of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Singapore (MDAS).
Currently in NTU, I am in the recreational sub-committee of hall 13 and a few other committees working on events like the Freshmen Orientation Camp for my hall.
Pursuing Mathematics in SPMS has exposed me to the great depth and broad applications that Mathematics can offer in our daily lives. The wide variety of modules that SPMS can offer has enabled me to read a minor in Physics. Filled with tutors and professors who are passionate to teach and friendly, it is never difficult to approach them to clarify questions or have a discussion. Studying in the division of Mathematical Sciences has further developed my critical thinking and analytical skills.
I chose SPMS because it is able to offer me a 4 years direct Honours programme. Being a new faculty, SPMS’s equipment are of top quality which makes it a very conducive and effective place for learning. Apart from the specific course of study, NTU allows students to take up a wide range of other minors, providing a holistic education for them. I believe NTU aims to become the MIT of the East and therefore, wish to be part of the team to make that achievement.
