Academic Achievements After Polytechnic:

Prior to my admission, I was awarded with the following awards by NTU:

Nanyang Scholarship
Emeritus Professor Kiang Ai Kim Fellowship Award

Non-academic Participation in NTU:

I am currently collaborating with several lecturers from Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Chemical and Life Sciences to organize an event for graduates from SP to share their experiences in the various paths of further studies with current SP students.

In addition to that, I am also collaborating with CBC and SP to help organize a tour for prospective polytechnic students so that they would be able to get a first hand experience on what the course has to offer.

Student Experience in NTU:

I made the choice to study in NTU School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences’ Chemistry & Biological Chemistry course due to several reasons. Firstly, there is a very knowledgeable and experienced academic faculty in the course, which I strongly believe is the most important factor for a good education. In addition to that, there are many facilities and laboratories equipped with modern technologies available to the students to promote independent learning. The course structure of CBC was also flexible as it allows student to choose the various paths of concentrations and electives. The course structure also ensures that students get a strong foundation in their basic sciences, which includes mathematics and physics, so that higher level courses can be built onto these foundations easily.

I feel that the teaching faculty in NTU is very knowledgeable and dedicated. They are very approachable and are willing to help and guide students along should they encounter problems or difficulties in the course. There are also many opportunities in SPMS for independent learning, whereby the professors are willing to mentor students should they be interested in their areas of research. The administrative staffs of SPMS are also very helpful and responsive to any queries students may have.

In addition to these, NTU also has a very vibrant student life, with many student activities, such as bazaars and concerts, being held frequently. The Halls of Residences are also very active, with many cohesion activities and games being organized for the residents to provide a break from a mundane day of study. There is also a great emphasis on student welfare that is being viewed upon by the school, such as providing free refreshments to students studying in school during the examinations period, and also viewing feedback from students seriously.
