Prospective Graduate Students

Programme Overview

SPMS offers graduate research leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Graduate students are an essential part of building a thriving and exciting research and learning environment that characterises the physical and mathematical sciences at NTU. Graduate students will also participate in teaching, interacting with and influencing the undergraduates, demonstrating how new knowledge is acquired and applied, and perhaps even inspiring the next generation of scholars.

"After a while I made an empirical discovery... the act of framing a question precisely was the key to understanding."
Sir Harry Kroto, Nobel Laureate, 1996, Chemistry

Each Division strives to be the very best in its field, and faculty members will have, and younger ones will build, outstanding international reputation for research and teaching and be able to sniff out challenging and impactful problems to engage graduate students in their research. Research at the interface between disciplines is strongly encouraged, both within the physical and mathematical sciences, and with the engineering, life, medical and social sciences.

We also forge R&D links with other leading universities, research institutes, and industry, both in Singapore and globally. We prepare graduates who will be in demand by academia, education, the professions, business, industry, and government.
