Nanyang Concept test

Introduction

Starting in 2006, the Division of Physics and Applied Physics at Nanyang Technological University will be conducting the annual Nanyang Concept Test in Physics for students who are preparing for the GCE A-level Examination or STPM in Physics or its equivalent.

  • Objectives

  1. 1. To provide a means of testing the conceptual understanding of physics at A-level (or STPM level) by discriminating different levels of understanding
  1. 2. To assist students and teachers in identifying strengths and weaknesses in understanding physics and as a means towards improvement
  1. 3. To provide overall and comparative statistics of how the cohort of students is doing in each concept tested.

Benefits to Students

  1. Each student get a score report on their level of understanding in Physics. They get to keep the question paper for reference. Answers for each question will be given and students will know where they stand with regards to their conceptual understanding of Physics.
  2. The score report also contains information on the percentage of students who have correctly answered each question, thus providing a gauge on the level of difficulty of each question.
  3. Positive reinforcement for students who have done well.

Benefit to Schools

Answers and overall statistics for each question will be sent to the school, so that the school will know how their students fare.
